You will find there are many interesting places to visit in Michigan that are somewhat out of the ordinary. When you visit this state your vacation will be unique and one that you will remember for a long time. If you are planning to be in Michigan around the 29th of August you will want to visit Oscoda. This is the time of their Paul Bunyan festival. Held as an annual event, one of the things that you will get to see is a chainsaw carving contest. In addition they have a Lumberjack Show, an antique car show and many other activities suited for children and adults. This is a three day festival and there are many people from the area as well as other states that come to enjoy this event.

In Houston located in Bad Axe City Park, there is a place called Pioneer Log Cabin Village that should be on your list of places to visit in Michigan. This is a village that has many restored buildings from the 19th century. The history of this area is one of the things you will enjoy when visiting. The village has many buildings that are common to that era, including a barn, family home, chapel, a country school, general store and blacksmith shop.
